Megahed Shipping & Transportation is temporarily pausing new sea freight bookings in light of current delays in global ocean shipping schedules. We are taking this step so that we don't commit to arrival dates we cannot guarantee under present conditions.
What is happening in ocean shipping?
The latest industry data shows a clear drop in how reliably container ships keep to their schedules:
- According to Sea-Intelligence's report of 26 August 2026, global container schedule reliability fell to 56.4% in July 2026, down 6.1 percentage points from the previous month — the lowest level of 2026.
- The same report found that the average delay for late vessels rose to 6.06 days, the highest since January 2024.
- Meanwhile, on 14 September 2026 Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd announced that several services are returning to the Suez Canal route, stressing that this is conditional on continued stability in the Red Sea.
Our usual sea route to Egypt passes through the Red Sea, so these changes directly affect arrival times.
What are the alternatives right now?
Land shipping continues as normal to Egypt and the Gulf. A land shipment to Egypt usually takes 10 to 25 working days via Saudi Arabia, and 1 to 6 working days for most Gulf destinations. Learn how land shipping works, or read the full land shipping guide.
When will the service resume?
We are following developments in the shipping industry closely and will announce the return of sea freight on this page as soon as schedules stabilise. For any question about an existing or planned shipment, contact us directly on WhatsApp.
